With over 25 years of experience practicing family law in the Twin Cities, Sean Shiff represents parties in divorce cases, custody and parenting time disputes, child support and spousal maintenance disputes, domestic abuse proceedings, harassment restraining order proceedings, paternity cases, modifications of existing court orders, and appeals. Sean has represented companies in negotiating and drafting contracts and leases, advising on a variety of employment and other legal issues for small business owners, working with state and local authorities on investigations into corporate practices and alleged violations, and acquisitions and sales of businesses and real property.
Having litigated for over 25 years, Sean Shiff has “thrown his hat into the ring” by offering services as both a mediator and arbitrator. While he has spent most of his career representing parties in litigation that inevitably includes some form of alternative dispute resolution, mediation being the most common, Sean has always maintained a sense of objectivity and creative problem solving that enables him to bring together opposing sides (often times with diametrically opposed positions) to reach a settlement that each side can call a success. Sean's thoroughness, attention to detail, and strong commitment to justice make him well suited to serve as a neutral fact finder, whether as an arbitrator or a special master.
